Laws of the Mezuzah: Introduction
Many detailed laws govern the Mitzvah of the Mezuzah. For the sake of a
clear presentation, the laws have been divided into
the following 6 sections:
| 1. |
Overview. This section outlines
the scope of the Mitzvah of Mezuzah. Go there |
| 2. |
Parchment. This section discusses
how the actual parchment on which the
Mezuzah is written is prepared. Go there |
| 3. |
Writing. This section explains what the actual
text of the Mezuzah is, details of the text, such as what script is used,
and how the Mezuzah must be written. Go there |
| 4. |
Dwelling. This section defines what sort of
dwelling, based on both the physical structure of the dwelling and how
the dwelling is used, requires a Mezuzah. Go there |
| 5. |
Affixing. How do you roll up the Mezuzah? On which
side of the doorpost does it go? How high up? What should I put it up with?
These questions and others are answered in this section. Go there |
| 6. |
Once Up. Once your Mezuzah is up, and you
have fulfilled the Mitzvah of Mezuzah, does it all end there? No; in fact,
this is only the beginning of a beautiful friendship... Go there |
